The Death of Robin Hood
Opening with scenes of shocking violence, much of it perpetrated by Robin Hood (Jackman) himself, the film stunningly immerses us into a time of enmity and carnage. Grizzled and having inflicted and endured much bloodshed, Robin enters a battle in which the odds are very much against him and he does not expect to survive. But he does, barely, and ends up in a remote abbey in the care of a kindly nun (Jodie Comer), where he strikes up something of a friendship with a leper (Murray Bartlett), and takes on the role of protective father figure to an orphaned young girl. Together this disparate group form a makeshift family, as Robin contemplates his brutal past and discovers a route to salvation.
